Ways to prevent makeup from sweating off your face? How to apply makeup that endures hot summer days?

Hot weather doesn’t always let us feel comfortable in our skin. These makeup products sweating off our faces is one of the biggest problems that women have to struggle during summer. The easiest solution? Resign from applying color cosmetics. However, there are some situations that require us to enhance our beauty no matter the weather. Is there any way to apply makeup and prevent it from being spoiled due to the sun and high temperature?

Summer makeup? Many women resign from doing it completely. The main reason for that is the fact that color cosmetics sweat off the face when the temperature outside is a little bit too high. Even a short walk taken from an office to home or a shop results in sweaty face.

Runny makeup during summer

It may seem that sweaty makeup is only an aesthetic or not-harmful-to-health problem, but actually there’s more to it. Color cosmetics that run down our faces don’t look good (e.g. panda effect caused my smudged mascara) – no doubts about it – but such situation leads to some serious dermatological problems. Skin starts shining uncontrollably, makeup starts flaking off or gathering in creases, sweat combined with color cosmetics clog skin pores and this inevitably leads to irritation.

How about no makeup today?

Obviously, you can resign from doing makeup in the summer, yet not everyone finds this solution satisfying. The truth is, on hot days skin gets oily and shines even without makeup. Being aware of this, we feel uncomfortable knowing that due to the sweat all our blemishes are exposed for anyone to see.

How to find a good solution? There is just one way out. Keep doing makeup but do it in the right way to prevent it from sweating off even on the hottest days.

Here’s how to minimize the problem of makeup products sweating off your face

If you don’t know yet how to do sweat-proof makeup in the summer and steer clear of the panda effect, read the following tricks.

  1. Resign from applying loose products – your summer makeup should be done using only products that have creamy texture. It’s easier for a liquid fluid to melt into skin so it doesn’t get runny that much as these tiny particles of loose powders.
  2. Use lightweight oil as a primer – don’t apply too many makeup products that may clog skin pores, overburden face and run down your face together with sweat. Therefore, instead of treating your face with regular makeup primers, spread some lightweight oil such as sweet almond oil that will replenish skin with water and make it ready for makeup in a single step. What’s interesting, natural oils deliver sun protection which is an additional asset to make use of – all natural and without overburdening.
  3. Go for a BB cream instead of a foundation – if possible, choose BB or CC creams that are lighter in terms of consistency when compared to a regular foundation. Such products are equally effective when it comes to evening out skin tone but aren’t so overburdening. Moreover, they melt into skin easier and exhibit skin conditioning properties.
  4. Keep oil blotting sheets close at hand – in the case of excessive oil secretion and problems with keeping makeup products unchanged on face during summer days, oil blotting papers seem to be a kind of godsend. It’s a good thing to keep them close at hand to deal with shiny T-zone fast.
  5. Cool yourself down with a face mist – if you feel that the temperature is really high, reach for face mist to cool skin down. You can use a store-bought face mist or any chosen herbal distillate, e.g. rose water. This is how you can do both soothe and moisturize your skin in a single step on hot days. The water absorbed by skin won’t affect makeup at all.
  6. Coat your eyelashes with a waterproof mascara – although waterproof mascara products aren’t the best solution because they are too heavy and troublesome to remove, during summer they can help us tremendously. Actually, a quality mascara, which isn’t resistant to water, should also pass the exam on hot days.
  7. Use a protecting lip balm instead of a lipstick – in the summer you can resign form applying bold colors to your lips and go for a protecting lip balm. In this way you will prevent lip dehydration and leave lip skin silky smooth. Using matte lipsticks on hot days is definitely a bad idea unless you want to get dehydrated lips and the color that gathers in creases.
  8. Choose cream eye shadows – loose eye shadows might be pretty problematic in the summer because their hold is weaker (when compared to cream eye shadows) so they sweat off easily. Therefore, if you have to apply full makeup, choose cream eye shadows that wear longer and melt into skin better.
  9. Fix eyebrows with a hair spray – although it may sound weird, it works so it’s worth trying this trick out. Even the best eyebrow gels might smudge due to sweat during hot days. So, once you finish applying makeup to the eyebrows, reach for a spoolie (or a mascara wand), spritz it with a hair spray and then comb the eyebrows with it. Such eyebrows remain untouched for really long.
