Hygiene during traveling? A short traveler’s guide

Are you going for a trip but you aren’t quite sure what beauty products should you pack into a bag? Indeed, personal care during travelling is quite a challenge. However, bear in mind that once you collect all essential items, there will be no situation that could take you aback!

There are many types of holiday excursions. Some people choose to visit an ocean or sea just to lay on the beach and do nothing for the entire day. Others go for all inclusive trips to resorts located in hot countries. Others again prefer to spend active holiday somewhere off the beaten track, in the mountains or woods. Especially the last group of holiday-makers should find this Traveler’s Guide: Hygiene During Traveling useful.

TRAVELER’S MAKEUP BAG

What should you put into your bag before getting away from it all? No matter your personal care habits, where your destination is, whether you will have an access to a rest room and running water or not – there is a set of beauty products that you just must have with you. This is the bare minimum of every traveler.

  1. Thermal water – alike herbal distillates, it can be used to almost everything. First and foremost, it cleanses skin without causing irritations or this unpleasant feeling of tight skin. Secondly, you can use it to remove makeup, providing that you want to wear it while travelling. Thirdly, owing to a high mineral content, thermal water is good at nourishing and replenishing skin with water. Moreover, you can use it as a replacement for face/body/hair mist – thermal water will cool your body down on hot summer days. Last but not least, if you happen to have a fresh avocado close at hand, you can prepare a regenerating mask pretty fast. Just mash the avocado and combine it with thermal water.
  2. Sunscreen – the absolute must-have of all travelers is a sun cream with high sun protection filter. Even if you plan to explore shaded woods, your skin is still exposed to the damaging influence of UV rays. Believe it or not but you can get a tan even when sitting in a shadow and the aftermath of going for holiday without proper sun protection may be really disastrous – irritation and sunburns. A non-greasy sun cream should do if you want to take care of your skin and prevent moisture loss.
  3. Antibacterial hand gel – this is one of the all-time life-savers, especially when you happen to be away from the access to running water. Such hand gels are sold in travel-size bottles (so they can be thrown to all type of bags, even a carry-on bag) and are awfully easy to use. In most cases, they don’t need to be combined with water because they already have a runny consistency that doesn’t leave any sticky feel on hands. Just squeeze out a small dollop of antibacterial gel and rub it into hands to get rid of dirt and bacteria.
  4. Moisturizing facial wipes – together with an antibacterial hand cream you should always carry some moisturizing facial wipes with you. Actually, you can use them to the body parts where gel application isn’t the best idea – e.g. face. Moisturizing facial wipes don’t contain substances like alcohol therefore you can be sure that no irritation would be caused to your skin – instead you will replenish it with water, fresh it up and nourish. If you place hygiene at the top of your list, moisturizing facial wipes are a must.
  5. Vaseline – a tiny jar of Vaseline is a rescue for dehydrated and irritated skin. Since baggage has a weight limit, you can’t take all the personal care products with you. And this is when Vaseline marches in – it softens skin, smooths it out, prevents water loss, relieves irritations and helps skin regenerate faster. The truth is, Vaseline might appear to be more helpful during your excursions than you thought it would be since it offers a multitude of applications. You can use it as a scrape cream (to treat scraped skin), as a lip balm and hand cream, to name just a few.
  6. Favorite natural oil – if you find Vaseline too dense, give natural oils a try. You can use them to condition your face skin that may lack some vitality after exhausting summer trekking. Instead of packing unnecessary cosmetics, better throw into your bag argan/macadamia/jojoba/almond oil. All of them work like an effective nourishing cream, are quickly absorbed by skin, prevent water loss, help skin regenerate faster and deal with photoaging. The good news is that they can be applied to your entire body, hair and nails, but that’s not all. Natural oils are effective makeup removers too.
