I know that caring for the most fragile parts of the body and face can be tricky. You need to be cautious and pick products that are just right. You can’t choose them blindly. Today, I’m talking skin under the eyes. You’ll be taken aback and it might turn out that you’ve been performing your eye skin care all wrong.
What should the best eye cream contain?
Eye skin care products should have a lightweight consistency which facilitates absorption and application. Well-matched active ingredients and natural extracts ensure comprehensive care for fragile eye skin. That’s why you should go for creams made up of:
- Euphrasia extract
- algae
- aloe
- caffeine
- active peptides
- natural oils (mostly argan oil)
- buckeye extract
- collagen
- vitamins A, C, E
- cornflower extract
- phytohormones
- camomile and green tea extracts
- coenzyme Q10
- hyaluronic acid
How to properly apply under-eye products?
Hands down, the product is the most essential element of eye skin care. Use quality creams made of as natural ingredients as possible on daily basis, religiously. You can try pure oils as well. Macadamia oil is fast-absorbed and doesn’t leave the skin greasy, similarly to argan oil which has a strong anti-wrinkle effect.
Did you know that itching and burning sensation in the eye area might flow from improper usage of a cream, not the product itself? Carefully apply your eye products, gently tapping the skin and making sure it doesn’t run into the eyes.
Eye skin massage
It’s common knowledge that massage works wonders and is virtually free (a single purchase of a jade roller or other massaging tool will do) but nobody seems to be doing it. Why? We like to blame the busy lifestyle and lack of time. A five-minute massage every time we apply a cream or serum brings incredible effects. Obviously you can’t massage the fragile eye skin like you do with the scalp. Be very gentle and intuitive to soon spot flawless, firm skin under the eyes.
Feel free to massage the skin with the fingertips. Ideally, firstly apply argan oil or other fine-quality natural oil. The massage stimulates microcirculation and, apart from reducing puffiness, it benefits the absorption of ingredients by the skin.
Make-up removal
Thorough removal of eye make-up is so obvious that I guess nobody needs to be told to do that 🙂 Unfortunately, we often do it carelessly: a few strokes of a cotton pad soaked in micellar water won’t do the trick. Another thing is how you remove your make-up. I was shocked when I saw my sister taking off her eye make-up… I couldn’t believe my eyes. She was rubbing her eyes so hard that I thought she was trying to take out her eyeballs 😀 This kind of mis-treatment has a terrible effect on the delicate skin because you stretch it. In the long run, the skin loses firmness, becomes thin and prone to irritations.
Try to choose mild make-up removers, ideally, micellar water and bi-phase products made of natural substances. How to remove make-up not damaging the skin? Apply micellar water on a cotton pad and gently press it to the eye skin. Wait for a couple of seconds so the product has time to dissolve make-up. Easy, non-invasive, safe.
