Permanent lash extensions? For me, DIY cluster lashes for at-home application turned out to be a better solution. DIY lash extensions made a big impression on me, but not every DIY lash extension kit I tested met my expectations. Which products are really worth trying? What should you pay special attention to when choosing your kit? You’ll find out after reading this post.
It’s undeniable that not too long ago, DIY lash extensions seemed like just a dream. However, the emergence of ready-made cluster lashes for at-home application completely changed the game. This type of false lashes allows you to create a long-lasting and impressive lash look in a relatively short time. They come in starter kits that include everything needed for a full lash extension experience. In the kit, you’ll find lash cluster lashes, all the necessary formulas, and an applicator that helps you grip the lash clusters delicately and place them under your natural lashes precisely. The included step-by-step instructions guide you through the entire process, which is especially helpful for beginners.
Unfortunately, drugstores and online shops are now flooded with various products that don’t always meet expectations. No wonder choosing the perfect DIY cluster lashes can be quite a challenge.
In response to these difficulties, I created a ranking of the TOP 5 best DIY lash extension kits. It aims to help women make the right choice.
DIY Lash Extension Kits You Can’t Miss!
1. Nanolash DIY Eyelash Extension Starter Kit
This is a set of ready-to-use cluster lashes that you can apply at home. This complete lash extension kit that includes not only cluster lashes but also a bonder, sealer, remover, and special tweezers. It’s a comprehensive solution that will satisfy even the most demanding users.
The manufacturer claims that the lash look applied at home can last up to 5 days. Although these cluster lashes are officially intended for single use, many users note that after removing them, the lash clusters didn’t lose their shape and could be reused! This means that one pack of cluster lashes enables more applications than the suggested four on average.
The whole process of applying Nanolash cluster lashes takes just 10 minutes and involves three simple steps:
- Applying the bonder – wait 30-60 seconds for it to reach full tackiness.
- Attaching the cluster lashes about 1 mm from the lash line and pressing them using the applicator.
- Finishing the application using the sealer.
Nanolash also provides a wide lash selection – the DIY Lash Extensions cluster lashes are available in 8 different styles, allowing you to create both Russian Volume and a more subtle lash extension effect. One case contains 36 cluster lashes in 3 different sizes.
DIY Lash Extensions stand out due to their lightness, natural look, and flexibility. With 36 cluster lashes in the case, they outperform other products, providing excellent parameters. These light and soft lash clusters are a premium product that deserves the top spot in my ranking undeniably.
2. Amor Lashes QuickLash Starter Kit
This British brand ensures that the entire lash extension process using the starter kit will take only 10-15 minutes and requires no prior experience, making it accessible to all of us. The cluster lashes come in three lengths: 10, 12, and 14 mm, as well as a mixed-length case. The advantage of this kit is that the manufacturer provides different curl types and lash styles, allowing you to tailor them to your individual needs and preferences.
Unfortunately, I have to admit that applying DIY lash extensions from this kit takes more time compared to the DIY Lash Extensions from Nanolash. The durability of these cluster lashes leaves a lot to be desired too, which can be disappointing. The lash style doesn’t last as long as I would like, and the cluster lashes tend to deform after removing them, making them difficult to reuse.
3. Lilac St Intro Starter Kit
Lilac St Intro Starter Kit ranks third in my list of DIY cluster lash kits. The manufacturer ensures a quick and easy application that should last for several days. Unfortunately, it’s not clearly stated how long these cluster lashes can be worn – the durability depends on individual factors and aftercare, which explains the lower position of this kit in the ranking.
The Lilac St Intro starter kit includes all the necessary accessories for the application and 30 pre-made cluster lashes ranging from 8 to 18 mm. The wide variety of styles enables nearly unlimited lash-styling possibilities. Cluster lashes measuring 14 to 18 mm are great for the Russian Volume style, while the shortest ones can be used to thicken natural lashes gently.
Although these cluster lashes show high quality, compared to kits like DIY Lash Extensions, the Lilac St Intro Starter Kit has a few aspects that need improvement.
4. Ardell X-tended Wear Lash System KIT
Ardell X-tended Wear Lash System KIT is another DIY lash extension kit for home use, which, according to the manufacturer, stands out for its durability and easy application. Unfortunately, the opinions of many women who tested this product differ slightly from these claims.
The kit includes not only pre-made lash clusters but also special glue and other accessories designed to make the DIY lash-thickening process easier. The cluster lashes are flexible, soft, and come on a black strip intended to camouflage the joining points.
Applying the lashes from the Ardell X-tended Wear Lash System KIT is somewhat more complicated compared to products like DIY Lash Extensions from Nanolash. It requires more patience and skills in order to achieve a satisfying result.
The kit only comes with false lashes in two lengths: 12 and 14 mm, which might be problematic for those of us who prefer more delicate lash styles. In such cases, achieving a fully natural effect might be harder, and the lashes could appear more unnatural.
While the kit includes a special bonder that theoretically can extend the application’s durability, many women didn’t confirm its effectiveness. In comparison, DIY Lash Extensions from Nanolash ensures 5 days of wear without any doubts.
5. Velour X-tensions Kit
The Velour X-tensions Kit is the last product I tested while searching for DIY cluster lashes for at-home application. The kit includes cluster lashes in three sizes: 10, 12, and 14 mm, ensuring lash styles suitable for any occasion. The cluster lashes are lightweight, but their fibers are slightly thicker than those in the DIY Lash Extensions from Nanolash, making them look less natural.
The manufacturer doesn’t provide specific information on the product’s durability, only mentioning that the wear time depends on individual factors. This means that for one person, the lashes might last up to 5 days, while for another, they could lose their appearance after just 3 days. It’s also worth noting that these lashes aren’t waterproof, and you shouldn’t get them wet them for 24 hours after the application. Despite these limitations, the Velour X-tensions Kit is a product worth considering. Though it’s not the leader in my ranking, it’s still a good option for those wanting to apply their own lash extensions at home.
Which DIY Lash Extension Kit Is Best for Me?

Choosing the right DIY lash extension kit is crucial. High-quality cluster lashes not only last longer but also ensure easy and quick application.
When choosing DIY cluster lashes, it’s important to follow your own needs and preferences. Each product provides different lengths and lash styles, so it’s essential to pay attention to those that suit your eye shape best.
The final effect you want to achieve also matters. Some cluster lashes are ideal for Russian Volume styles, while others will allow you to enhance your lashes for everyday wear subtly.
