White eyeliner – Is it something I can pull off?

Today, I have a story for you about the make-up negative, i.e. white eyeliner. In theory, I like to have fun with converse ideas, yet I wasn’t entirely sure whether white eyeliner will be able to win me over. After all, we all are used to the classic black cat-eye. 🙂

If you are interested in how my adventure with white eyeliner concluded, you must read on.

Various versions of eyeliner

The most popular one is the black liner. It can be a straight line or slightly blended to create a smokey eye effect. You can draw it along the entire lash line or start somewhere in the middle. It can have a bigger or smaller wing. However, it is rare for us to change its color.

There was a time when we went head over heels with festival make-up where colorful eyeliner was a central part. Then the glitter and neon liner became popular to ensure the edge and a hint of wildness to the make-up.

Today, another variation tries to steal our hearts and that is the white liner. For now, this trend is limited mostly to the runways of the fashion shows but who knows, we may soon see it on the streets.

White eyeliner. Where did the idea come from?

The trendsetters for white eyeliner are as per usual the make-up artists. The idea of the white liner to take over the fashion world was proclaimed by Victoria’s Secret angels make-up artist – Patrick Ta.

Before I knew it, Instagram was taken over by lots and lots of pictures of make-up ideas implementing the white liner. These were more than just runways photos, but also influencers and girls like you and me.

It made me keen on trying the idea myself. That is how I became the owner of my first ever white eyeliner!

The perfect product for the white liner

The choice of the right cosmetic for the white line is quite difficult because it’s a color that doesn’t forgive mistakes. The white eyeliner stands out so much that the line has to be made perfect in order to look good.

In my opinion, a good white liner is:

  • liquid liner with a thin brush for easier application,
  • eyeliner with expressive and deep color,
  • waterproof eyeliner so that the line can last the whole day,
  • high-coverage liner (great for application on top of a dark eyeshadow).

How to create the white line on your eye?

In fact, there is no difference whether you try to achieve black, white, color or rainbow lines. It is always made the same way so if you’re skilled in the use of eyeliner, you will do just fine with the white liner.

The most important step is to use an eyeshadow base on the eyelid so that the cosmetic can stick to the skin better and look more expressive. Moreover, before you proceed with the white eyeliner, you should first do the whole make-up (apart for mascara). The white liner is supposed to ensure the final look, so it should be used by the end.

That’s about it when it comes to white eyeliner. Remember that the line needs to be straight and always matched with the eye shape. It’ll be different for almond-shaped eyes and for the droopy eyelid.

The white eyeliner – the look and the pros

There’s no denying it that white eyeliner is an unusual make-up addition. Probably little to no one will replace the classic for way more expressive white. However, if you decide to go for the white liner, you can rest assured that it’ll be a breath of fresh air. Light (especially white) eyeliner can make your look appear younger. It’s best for the spring and summer season when it is the last thing we want to be overwhelmed by dark make-up.

Do I even like the white eyeliner? As I mentioned, I was skeptical about the idea. Today, the white liner is something you can see way more often in my make-up as an alternative for the black eyeliner. I grew fond of myself in this version.
